Methodological approaches to determining land resource potential

The purpose of the work is to study theoretical and methodological approaches to defining the concept of «land resource potential» and its role in the agro-industrial complex of Russia. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study was the scientific works of economists in the field of land management in the agro-industrial complex. In the process of preparing this article, such scientific methods were used as: analytical, statistical, logical, comparative. The article discusses various approaches to the interpretation of the concept of land and resource potential of the agro-industrial complex, identifies the features of land resources as an object of research. When studying various approaches to the interpretation of the term «land resource potential», the author studied and analyzed regulatory legal acts, articles and educational literature on the research topic for 2005—2020, data from statistical collections of Rosstat and its territorial bodies. This allows us to conclude that the information provided in the article is up-to-date and reliable. The results of this study made it possible to draw the following conclusions: it is necessary to consider not only the current state of land, but also their prospects, which leads to the need to synthesize two concepts — resources and potential. The formulated proposals complement the existing ideas about the essence of land and resource potential and its role in the agroindustrial complex as an integral part of the production process in agriculture. The obtained research results can be used in further research work of the author, as well as in the educational process. Consequently, in modern science we should talk not so much about land resources, but about land-resource potential, as the prospect of future successful agricultural production.
