The state of the construction complex largely depends on the activity of economic entities, which depends not only on the internal conditions of production activities, but also on the impact of external factors, such as global financial and economic crises, restrictive measures of other countries, and recently, the pandemic caused by the coronavirus. The analysis of the economic situation of the parameters that influence the implementation of economic activities in the context of crisis phenomena determines the relevance of this study. The article analyzes the change in business activity as one of the most important factors of the competitiveness of construction companies in the Komi Republic on the basis of the evaluation criteria of entrepreneurs. The purpose of the work is to analyze changes in the main performance indicators of construction organizations, assess the financial condition, as well as the factors that restrain business activity in the construction of the region during the pandemic. The study used the methodology of logical, historical, statistical and comparative analysis, methods of expert assessments of the heads of construction organizations. A brief overview of theoretical approaches to the study of competitiveness is given. It was noted that as a result of the operational measures taken by the Government of the Russian Federation to stabilize the overall economic situation in the country, the restrictions associated with the pandemic did not cause significant damage to the construction complex. A number of directions for improving business activity in the construction complex of the republic in the near future are proposed. The results obtained can be used as a reference point in improving the management of the construction complex in the region. One of the areas of future research will be the development of a methodology for calculating the integral indicator and, based on it, analyzing the competitiveness of the construction complex in the regions of the Russian Federation.
