Abstract. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the need and main directions for the development and implementation of IT technologies in the functioning of the mechanism of reproduction of land resources, which will allow agriculture to turn into an advanced sector of the economy, characterized by high labor productivity and lower unproductive costs. The need to ensure food security in Russia entails solving the problems of modernizing the agricultural sector. According to experts, in the production of agricultural products, its producer constantly needs to make a variety of management decisions, often in limited time periods. The state program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation” directly states that”... digital data is a key factor in production in all areas of socio-economic activity ...”. Therefore, increasing the efficiency of the mechanism for the reproduction of land resources in Russian agriculture on the basis of digital transformation should contribute to the preservation and improvement of its food security. The information and empirical base of the study was scientific and review articles by domestic scientists-economists in the field of agricultural land use and digitalization of the economy. In the process of preparing the article, analytical, logical, monographic research methods were used. The article considers the main directions of digitalization of the agricultural industry and possible ways to improve the mechanism for the reproduction of land resources in the industry in the context of its digital transformation. As a result of the study, we can consider the possibility of introducing specialized digital platforms (applications), remote technologies, etc. into the mechanism of land resources reproduction in agriculture, which will allow agricultural producers to use innovative technologies to make rational management decisions in the field of agricultural land use. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the improvement of the mechanism for the reproduction of land resources in agriculture in modern conditions should be carried out within the framework of the national policy of digitalization of the Russian economy. The results obtained can be used in the further research work of the author, the educational process, as well as in the transformation of the mechanism of reproduction of land resources in the practical activities of agricultural producers. Directions for future research are related to the fact that the introduction of the results of this study into economic practice will improve the socio-economic situation of rural areas and, as a result, ensure the food and economic security of the state. Therefore, it is necessary not only to attract qualified personnel to the industry with knowledge of the requirements and competencies of the modern digital economy, but also to contribute to the renewal and modernization of the material and technical base of the agro-industrial complex, the development of which is based on land resources.
