Crisis phenomena that cyclically arise in the economy cause an increase in economic costs and losses, which in turn leads to an exacerbation of problems accumulated in society, the realization of threats in the socio-economic life of the country and regions. To overcome the crisis phenomena, to ensure the continuity of the functioning and development of business in the conditions of dynamic changes, the most important application of the forces of entrepreneurs is to develop the ability to adapt to changing external conditions, to take timely adequate preventive and post-crisis countercyclical measures. The article presents an analysis of adaptation models of small businesses and factors influencing the adaptation processes, based on the implementation of the theoretical provisions of the PEST and SWOT analysis methodology. The purpose of this article is to analyze and interregional assessment of adaptation models for small and medium-sized busi-nesses. As part of the practical use of the proposed variable adaptation models in relation to the characteristics of various regions of the Russian Federation, the level and elasticity of the impact of each of the identified factors in relation to the results of adaptation of the a society of dynamic changes. Each individual small business entity and individual territories have a set of unique properties and qualities, as a result of which it is quite difficult to implement the process of building a universal model of business adaptation to modern challenges and threats. A rational solution in this context is an attempt to build an adaptation model based on taking into account the specifics of a particular region of the Russian Federation and the specifics of a particular type of business activity, which determines the horizon and prospects for further research, allowing small and medium-sized businesses to quickly respond to changes in the external environment and increase the level of competitiveness.
