In this article, the author examines and analyzes the existing methods of evaluating the effectiveness of social investment in the world and domestic practice, identifies their strengths and weaknesses. The purpose of the study is to develop its own universal indicator that allows evaluating the effectiveness of investments in human capital for enterprises of any industry. The study was conducted using general scientific methods, such as analysis, generalization, comparison, as well as special methods – economic and statistical analysis. As a result, the author proposes an indicator and describes the method of its calculation, which allows us to assess the economic effect of investment in human capital at a particular enterprise with a fairly small amount of initial data and a relatively simple mathematical calculation. This makes it possible to use it at enterprises of both large and medium-sized and small businesses, of any industry affiliation. The improvement of the methods used to assess the economic efficiency of corporate social policy measures and the introduction of unified indicators is of particular practical importance, as it promotes the popularization of socially responsible investment among domestic entrepreneurs, allows you to evaluate and clearly show the profitability of such investments.

Keywords: corporate social responsibility, social policy, social investments, public sector, human capital.
